What to Expect Regarding Gynecologic Care

Thank you for selecting our practice for your gynecologic care. You may choose any one of our qualified physicians or nurse practitioners as your primary gynecologic health care provider. He or she will meet with you during your periodic gyn checkup and other scheduled visits. Please keep in mind, however, in an emergency, your physician or nurse practitioner of choice may not be in the office. Should this occur, another physician or nurse practitioner in our group will be happy to see you. Be assured, in such circumstances he or she has access to your medical records and is able to provide you with personal, appropriate care. Our patients are important to us and you can always expect that your medical needs will be managed by compassionate and skilled professionals. During your preventive visit, our providers will review your medical history as well as the current guidelines and recommendations for various screening tests. Based on your age and personal medical history they will discuss the benefits of mammography, HPV screening tests, routine pap tests and dexa scans.

It is important to point out that, for optimum care, your gynecologist is no substitute for a primary care physician. You need both and we encourage you to establish a relationship with a general practitioner or internist. He or she is your best resource for non-gynecologic health issues. If you do not have a primary care physician, we will gladly provide the names of several qualified doctors in the area.

Convenient on-site services

In addition to regular office exams, Garden State Obstetrical and Gynecological Associates, an Axia Women's Health Care Center, provide a variety of diagnostic services on-site. Our goal in incorporating these services within the confines of our medical office is to make it as simple and easy as possible for you to obtain the care you need. Currently we offer:

Minimally Invasive Procedures

Many of our physicians are trained in minimally invasive procedures for abnormal uterine bleeding: Novasure as well as procedures for permanent birth control: Essure . These procedures offer an alternative to more traditional methods of treatment and based on your personal medical history may be performed in our office. There are no incisions and require less recovery time. Specific information regarding these procedures is provided in the list of patient education links below. Our physicians and nurse practitioners can discuss these options at your visit.

Minimally Invasive Surgery

We also provide minimally invasive alternatives to those patients requiring hospital based gynecologic surgery. Our physicians are adept at hysteroscopic approaches for the diagnosis and treatment of endometrial pathology. This includes patients who present with abnormal bleeding which may be related to polyps, fibroids, and neoplasms. In addition, we perform many laparoscopic procedures in the diagnosis and treatment of pelvic pain, ovarian cysts, and endometriosis. Lastly, we can provide alternatives to classical hysterectomy including uterine artery embolization, hysteroscopic myomectomy, and laparoscopic hysterectomy. All these cutting edge approaches allow our patients to receive the best in diagnosis and treatment with minimal downtime from their work, families, and busy lives.

Mammography, breast ultrasound, and bone density screening  are offered at Women's Imaging of South Jersey, a division of Regional Women's Health Group  also located within our facility.
